"Primrose Girl", in Gaelic "Cailín na Samhaircíní", also known as<br> "Miss Cruickshank's Reel",<br> "The Irish Hautboy",<br> "Lisdoonvarna Reel",<br> "The Rose in the Garden",<br> "The Smuggler's Reel" and "Tadhg a Rúin" is<br> an Irish reel in G Major. The parts are played AB.<br> There is a Cape Breton version of the tune in A Major.<br> A version was entered as an untitled reel into Book 2 of the 1883 music<br> manuscript collection of County Leitrim fiddler and piper Stephen Grier.<br> Francis O'Neill printed the reel in his Dance Music of Ireland: 1001<br> Gems (1907) as<br> "The Rose in the Garden".<br> The sources for the notated version are fiddlers Jim Hanley and Pat Farrell<br> (Newcastle, County Longford), recorded in 1966 by Seán Keane.<br> It was printed in Breathnach Ceol Rince na hÉireann II (1976).<br>
